Events SharePoint Saturday 2014

This year i will be speaking on the Belgian version of SharePoint Saturday 2014. My session will be about the new and enhanced search in SharePoint 2013. This wil be my first session on an BIWUG event and i am looking forward to it. Lets hope I don’t let people down. The only downside to it is that i will be missing somebody else’s session. My session is mainly targeted towards developers and technical people, but hopefully there’s something in it for anyone wanting to learn about Search. This is my session abstract. The Gears that make the search go round. Everybody heard about that huge bird - that screams ‘FAST search in SharePoint 2013!’. SharePoint internet fora and blogs are all about the new display templates, content pane, query rules, etc. We experienced the improvements ourselves, but what did FAST change on the other end of the spectrum? What components are there? What information gets stored in the index database? How does SharePoint find my results so quickly? And more importantly, how can we make all of this work to our benefit? This year’s SharePoint Saturday Belgium is on april 26th in Brussels. It was sold out in 2 days but you can still register to get on the waiting list here.

SharePoint Setup a SharePoint Development Environment Part 4

This is the 4th series of my post on how to set up a SharePoint Hyper-V virtual farm. In the previous posts we prepared our different servers, installed SQL and SharePoint 2013. In this post we will configure SharePoint 2013 with PowerShell. Like i already said in the previous post there will be some benefits of doing it this way. If you use the standard configuration setup wizard then SharePoint will create the databases and services for you. This also means that you don’t have control over their names, passwords or the accounts they run under.

SharePoint Setup a SharePoint development environment Part 1

There are a lot of blogs out there describing how to setup a development environment for developing SharePoint solutions and with the new version of 2013 also the development of apps. Because of the improved capabilities in Windows 8 and Hyper-V I am converting all of my previous vmware virtual machines to Hyper-V. But what about my starting virtual machine where I begin a new project with? Well instead of converting that one I’ve set out to create a new SharePoint development farm.

Hi there,

I’m Rick and I am a Microsoft 365 consultant living in Belgium. I’ve been working with SharePoint since 2007 and recently I’ve made the transition to Office 365. My main focus is development but as you all know… working with SharePoint requires you to know a little bit from everything. I have started my own company called Rivaro Consultancy in 2014. This allowed me to shift my focus to Office 365. This pushed me to become a versatile expert in both SharePoint, Office 365 and all related technologies. My inquisitive disposition encourages me to continuously gain knowledge and share insights with everyone that shares the same interests. I’m currently working at Advantive where I am responsible for promoting the use of Office 365, SharePoint and Azure. This allows me to do talks all over the world which I love to do.
